For Out-of-Town Patients

If you are coming to the Kimmel Cancer Center from a distance, you need contact only one office to make all necessary arrangements associated with your visit to Johns Hopkins. The staff at Johns Hopkins USA, for patients traveling from anywhere in the country, and International Services, for patients traveling from beyond the United States, can assist you with identifying an appropriate specialist, scheduling and coordinating all your appointments, making lodging and travel plans, arranging for interpreter services, as well as other support.

Many of our patients travel a great distance to meet with our specialists. Additionally, some patients undergoing an intensive course of therapy will be required to stay in Baltimore for many weeks or longer. To help alleviate the added stress of traveling to a new city, the staff at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins can assist families with making travel arrangements and housing accommodations.

Kimmel Cancer Center Housing Referral Service (410) 614-6527

This service helps patients and families arrange for long-term stay options at our residential facility, the Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion, located directly across the street from the Kimmel Cancer Center. Additionally, our staff can assist patients and their families with other housing alternatives nearby.

Kimmel Cancer Center Resource and Transportation Coordinator Office (410) 955-6549

The Resource and Transportation Coordinator attends to patients' transportation needs including shuttles to and withing the East Baltimore medical campus. Additionally, this office can help make arrangements for those with special needs including wheelchair accessibility.

This full-service travel agency handles travel and hotel accommodations exclusively for patients, families and visitors. They are located in the Hospital's main lobby are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Guest Services representatives can assist visitors with directions, hotel and local attractions and special requests.

Johns Hopkins Shuttle Services (410) 502-6880

Shuttle service within the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus in East Baltimore is available by dispatch 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Service between East Baltimore, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Campus and Green Spring Station is available during weekdays only. Information on shuttle schedules, wheelchair accessibility and other information is available by calling the Transportation Office between 6:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Taxis  

Taxicab service is available at our main Wolfe Street entrance and at the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center entrance. If a cab is not immediately available, you may use a courtesy phone located at each information desk which will enable you to connect directly to the dispatcher for service.

Public Transit (410) 539-5000

The Mass Transit Administration (MTA) provides a network of affordable and accessible transportation services throughout Maryland. The complex of Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions is located along more than one bus route, is minutes away from two MARC train stations and the Light Rail, and is a stop on the METRO subway line located between the Outpatient Center and the Hospital on the Concourse Level.

This service provides a single point of contact for out-of-town patients and their referring physicians to ensure easy access to Johns Hopkins medical services. By calling the toll-free number, Kimmel Cancer Center patients not only receive help with transportation, lodging and other travel needs, but also are provided assistance with identifying specialists and scheduling appointments. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. eastern time, Monday-Friday.

International Services 01-410-955-8032

Patients traveling from beyond the United States may receive assistance with their travel and lodging needs by contacting the International Services Office. Representatives from this office may help patients with other special needs including making medical appointments, obtaining interpreter services and arranging for financial counseling.
